RE teaching is statutory in all schools but is not part of the National Curriculum and was not considered in the recent curriculum review.
As a church school we believe RE underpins the whole curriculum by developing a child's moral and spiritual being. We aim to challenge and support all pupils and offer a variety of approaches and engaging activities in order to motivate and encourage learning.
As a Church of England Voluntary Controlled school, our teaching is governed by the School Trust Deed and we follow the 'Discovery RE Scheme' which reflects the national framework for RE. This is a scheme of work written by teachers to meet the requirements of the National Curriculum for all year groups. It is an enquiry-based programme which encourages children to make their own choices and decisions concerning religion and belief through informing and the development of skills.
