Our School Day

 Below is a summary of our current Chirton School day from September 2020

  • Chirton School will be open for all children Monday to Friday 8.45am to 3.15pm. New term starts on Wednesday 2nd September.
  • Children attending school will be in their class ‘bubble’ group with no more than 25 children and at least one adult in each class. They will spend class and break times together, in their designated area of the school. Every class bubble has a classroom, outside play space, staggered break and lunchtime to minimise any transmission/cross contamination.
  • School routine:
    • Where possible children walk/cycle to school. Minimise car journey’s to school and please be respectful of our village community with thoughtful, careful parking and drop off/pick up.
    • 8.00am Breakfast club children pre-booked space, registered in track/trace bubble.
    • 8.40am Children will be met at the school gate by a member of staff and taken to their classroom - hands cleaned on arrival. Children settle in their learning with their class teacher. Attendance register on clipboard to capture any additional messages to pass from parents onto class staff teams. Parents depart.
    • 9.00am School gate locked.
    • Parents late to drop off will need to phone school. This will be recorded as late unauthorised absence.
    • 3.15pm Punctual departure from school site - class teacher/TA organises departure from school playground of children with siblings. Families depart.
    • Afterschool club children pre-booked space, registered and taken to venue and track/trace bubble.
    • Parents late to pick up will be notified and children placed into afterschool club care with associated fees £4 per hour.
      • 8:50 – 9.00: Registration and early morning activities
      • 9.00 – 10.30: Session 1 and 2
      • 10.30 – 10.50: Morning break
      • 10.50 – 12.00: Session 3
      • 12.00 – 1.00: Lunch
      • 1.00 – 3.15: Session 4 and 5
      • There is always a good level of adult supervision at break and lunch times
  • Where staff are working across bubbles (intervention work/breakfast and afterschool club) in a day; social distancing and personal hygiene routines will of course be followed.
  • Collective worship will be conducted on Microsoft teams, or where appropriate outside in supervised socially distanced bubbles.
  • Breakfast and afterschool clubs will be a regular, consistent, constant group, with attendance noted for track and trace. Bookings can be made via the school office.
  • Parents are reminded of social distancing routines and responsibilities outside school site.
  • Rooms and resources will be cleaned at the end of every session and day. 
  • Every child will have a tray of their own stationary, pens, pencils, scissors, ruler thus limiting take home resources and sharing of stationary and other equipment. KS1/2 children will be sat in pairs at forward facing desks where possible.
  • Keyboards, tables, chairs, door handles, door frames, hand rails are sanitised between use.
  • Handwashing routines are stringent. Hot water, soap, sanitiser and hand dryers are available in every classroom. Regular, timely hand washing is conducted throughout the day with regular reminders.
  • Promotion of catch it, bin it, kill it approach.
  • PPE equipment is available in every classroom.
  • Abundant sanitising and cleansing equipment available of use.
  • Regular access for staff to use cleaning materials and have time to conduct a deep clean.
  • Adults will be restricted from entering the school.
  • 2 metre markings will be displayed on the ground along the middle paths.
  • Toilet cloakrooms will operate a one in, one out to prevent overcrowding.
  • Good ventilation in classrooms will be safe and appropriate.
  • One parent one child is permitted at the school gate.
  • Children will be wearing school uniform, except Forest School in which case they should come dressed for this activity. PE kits need to be bought to school on a Monday and taken home for washing on a Friday.
  • Forest School will be on Tuesday.
