In every classroom, every day, you will see:
1) Explicit Teaching
- - ‘This is what I am looking for today’ (referral to WALT and Growing Grids)
- - Strong questioning that furthers learning.
- - Teacher/TA pair and strong interaction.
- - By the end of the lesson, I am expecting/looking for (clear expectations)
- - Teacher and Pupil modelling that is verbalised.
- - Live marking.
- 2) Scaffolding
- - Children’s example WAGOLL (use of technology)
- - Use of manipulatives
- - Vocabulary banks
- - Differentiated learning resources to aid success.
- - Learning packs
- - Referral to working walls.
- - Acorn, Sapling and Oak (stretch and challenge for ALL)
- 3) Cognitive and Metacognitive strategies
- - Ping pong approach (I do- you do/I say- you say)
- - Regular Questioning on learning done previously - referral to prior learning.
- - Flashback 4.
- - Revising and making corrections to prior work.
- - Supported to plan and deciding on what needs to happen next.
- - Key vocabulary displayed and referred to - are you using these words?
- 4) Flexible groups
- - Think, Pair, Share.
- - Carousel T/TA group support across the week.
- - 1:1 opportunities.
- - Year and Mixed ability groupings.
- - Excellent table organisation where all are seen, heard and supported.
- - Children phoning a friend for support.
Using technology
- - iPad visualiser to model, edit, improve and support.
- - IWB - using to model on and use of manipulatives.
